Summer Camp

At Hillside we strive to fill campers’ days with fun and organized activities that focus on safety for both campers and horses.  To achieve this, campers wear protective helmets while riding and we group campers by skill level so that the activities are safe for all campers.

Basic Information

Learning to ride

  • We welcome campers ages 6-16
  • Camp dates are:
    Camp #1 June 2-6 (9am-3pm)
    Camp #2 June 9-13 (9am-3pm)
    Camp #3 July 14-18 (9am-3pm)
  • We accept all skill-levels from beginner to advanced.  Please let us know what experience your child has with horses so s/he can be placed with an appropriate group.
  • Camps are $350.00 each or $70.00 per day if your child cannot attend the whole week. Early registration discounts are available on the Registration Form.
  • Campers may be enrolled for one, two, or all three weeks of camp.

Learning round pen techniques

  • Daily riding lesson with a professional riding instructor who is also trained in child development
  • Campers may choose between English or western riding
  • Campers will learn to use the round pen and ground school for horse training
  • Campers will be able to explore the Equine Obstacle Course–an obstacle course they can play on while riding a horse!
  • Educational and fun horse-related craft projects
  • Guest presentations from our dressage trainer, our farrier, and other equine professionals
  • Activities about horse health and daily care
  • Our large covered arena means camp riding never gets rained out
  • Our horses are all experienced school horses that are well-trained and child-safe

How do I sign up my child?

It’s easy!  Simply fill out the form and return it!  There are two methods:

1. Use the regular registration form.  Simply download and print it the form, fill it out by hand, and mail it back or drop it off at Hillside Stables, 2720 Red Banks Rd North, Byhalia, MS 38611.

2. Use the electronically fillable form.  Simply download the form, fill it out on the computer, save it, and email it to  Once you open the form, sometimes a yellow bar will appear across the top of the screen, be sure to click both the first button, saying “Enable Editing,” and then the second that says, “Enable Content.”  This will allow you to type your answers into the form directly.
